There are many moments in life when our “soul is on its knees.” when we experience beauty, human need, love for God’s creation, joy, sorrow, and wonder, Our soul is on its knees when we do acts of kindness and serve others. Our soul is on its knees when we punctuate of lives with little “arrow prayers”—samples: “thank you for the sunset,” “may she find comfort in her sorrow,” “may I keep true to my values,” “may that person and the attendants in the ambulance going by find the needed resources,”… Perhaps this is what St. Paul meant when he wrote “I pray without ceasing.”
The disciples came to Jesus and asked: “Lord teach us to pray…”
