Follow the yearnings of your heart
“our hearts are restless O Lord, until they find their rest in you.”
(St. Augustine, 5th century)
Augustine believed that our yearnings lead to God. Meditate on his prayer:
Late have I loved you, O Beauty so ancient and so new, late have I loved you! Lo, you were within me, and I was outside, seeking for you there. I fell upon the lovely things you have made…You were with me but I was not with you….You called, shouted, and broke through my deafness; you banished my blindness; you lavished your fragrance upon me…and now I long for you; I tasted you, and I hunger and thirst; you touched me and I burned for your peace. Amen
